Well it was nice to end 2012 with a big win over Abbotsford in front of a very energetic crowd on Sunday.  I want to thank everyone who came out to our home games over the holidays. We truly appreciate the support.   Looking forward into the New Year, we are striving to consistently get better and build towards the 2013 Playoffs!!

Hope everyone is doing well and getting geared up for the holiday season!! I'm happy to say that I have finished my Christmas shopping, which is huge, because I can now avoid the malls. Last year, I wasn't as prepared and I couldn't get over how packed Woodfield and Oakbrook malls were. If it takes me longer to find parking then it does to actually go shopping I know I'm in trouble.

Anyone who personally knows a hockey player, whether it’s parents, siblings, close friends or girlfriends/wives, is familiar with the distinct smell of hockey hands!!! Hockey gloves seem to absorb a lot of sweat throughout the course of a practice, game, and especially an entire season.  So much so, that many players actually switch gloves between periods, because the grip on their stick becomes too slippery from all of the sweat.  As you can imagine over time that sweat starts to develop a strong scent that can be rather unfortunate for the untrained nostril.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving weekend and got the chance to visit with friends and family over the long weekend.  Thanks to our unbelievable owners, my wife and I had the opportunity to get together for a Thanksgiving feast with my teammates and their families.

It’s rare to have a weekend off during the hockey season, but for the first time in a long time, we had both Saturday and Sunday off this past weekend After having suffered a tough loss on Friday it was nice to be able to get away from the game for a couple of days, regroup and come back ready to work on Monday.  Not having two to three games over a weekend leaves us hockey players with an unusual amount of free time.
